MOTORCYCLISTS must be cautious on the road, especially on highways. While they are nimble, they are also exposed to the elements and surrounding traffic.
Recently, a video circulating on social media showed a large group of students on motorcycles gathering around two students lying on the road.
It was said that the two students were victims of a motorcycle crash on the Guthrie Highway.
Did the incident really happen?
Verdict:
True
Sungai Buloh OCPD Supt Mohd Hafiz Muhammad Nor confirmed that the incident happened at KM13.7 of the Guthrie Highway near Rawang on Dec 4 and that the victims were on their way home from school.
“They are thought to have braked suddenly and lost control of the motorcycle, resulting in both of them skidding and falling onto the road,” he said in a statement on Dec 5
Both students sustained injuries to the face and legs and were taken to Sungai Buloh Hospital for treatment.
The case was being investigated under Section 43(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
Supt Mohd Hafiz urged witnesses or anyone with information to contact Traffic Investigation Officer Sjn/Sgt Muhammad Piddie Firdaus Renjis at 013-8322290 or the Sungai Buloh district police headquarters operations room at 03-6156 1222.
