QuickCheck: Has Tabung Haji authorised anyone to offer 'haj by proxy' services?

AN advertisement circulating on social media is offering badal haji (haj by proxy) services for a fee.

The image claims that the service is available for those wishing to perform the umrah next year and uses Tabung Haji's (TH) name.

Is this claim authentic?

VERDICT:

FALSE

In an announcement earlier this week, TH denied authorising anyone to offer such a service.

"Do not be deceived by any party claiming to offer badal haji or badal umrah using the name Tabung Haji.

"TH has never appointed individuals or representatives to offer this service to the public," it said.

TH also urged the public to verify any information through its official channels.
