QuickCheck: Does grey hair grow faster than normal hair?

Is it December already?

Another year older, another year wiser. And a few more grey hairs to mark the passing of time. Hmmm...more than just a few, it looks like.

Does grey hair grow faster than normal hair?

VERDICT:

TRUE

According to a study published in the British Journal of Dermatology, the growth rate of white/grey hair is significantly higher than that of black hair. However, the mechanism underlying this is largely unknown.

The study found that the genes that influence hair growth are more active in grey hair compared to black hair.

The study also looked at substances called growth factors that control how and where hair grows over time.

It was discovered that one of the substances that boosts hair growth is more active in white hair than in black hair. On the other hand, another substance that slows hair growth is more active in black hair.

Gives the term quicksilver a whole other meaning, doesn't it?
