Verdict:

TRUE

Two unemployed men with 10 previous criminal and drug records were arrested again after being involved in a house break-in at Taman ACBE Bahau in Jempol on Sunday (Nov 10).

Earlier, closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage showing a 30-year-old suspect entering the victim's house went viral on social media.

Jempol OCPD Superintendent Norhisham Mustapar said the complainant discovered the incident after arriving home at about 1.30pm to find the door open and the sliding glass door shattered.

"The victim lodged a police report at 3pm and the suspect was apprehended at about 5pm the same day," he told Sinar Harian on Tuesday (Nov 11).

"Losses are estimated at around RM3,500," he added.

He said the arrest was made along with the seizure of several items, including foreign currency, two wristwatches, two mobile phones, a camera and a motorcycle.

He added that the suspect is now remanded for five days until Nov 13 to assist the investigation under Section 457 of the Penal Code for housebreaking.

The viral CCTV footage proved crucial in identifying the suspect.

The homeowner returned to find clear signs of forced entry with the sliding glass door destroyed.

The incident has raised concerns about home security in the area.

Residents are advised to ensure their properties are adequately secured and to install security systems where possible.
