SINCE the introduction of the Budi95 targeted fuel subsidy programme, Malaysians have kept a closer eye on their petrol use.
Some have claimed on social media that the quality and quantity of fuel at petrol pumps today is worse than before.
Are the accusations valid?
Are Malaysians receiving less fuel and lower-quality fuel since the introduction of Budi95?
VERDICT:
FALSE
A statement from the Domestic Trade and Costs of Living Ministry on Nov 1 refutes the claim.
It stated that the ministry had received six complaints from the public alleging they were shortchanged when purchasing RON95 fuel and had not received any official complaints regarding the quality of the fuel.
An investigation was initiated afterwards, but the ministry’s officers discovered no violations.
“The ministry wishes to emphasise that the implementation of BUDI95 will not lead to any change in the quantity or quality of RON95 petrol sold to consumers.
“Nevertheless, ongoing inspections, including random sampling and accuracy testing, will be conducted,” said the statement.
The ministry also encourages those who have complaints or information regarding this issue to submit official reports, along with complete complaint details, through WhatsApp (019-848 8000), the call centre (1-800-886-800), email (e-complaint@kpdn.gov.my), or the Ez ADU KPDN app.
