VIDEOS of an accident involving a motorcycle and police car on the North-South Expressway have recently gone viral.

In the video, the motorcyclist can be seen crashing into the back of the police car that's parked on the emergency lane.

Did this really happen?

A 21-year-old motorcyclist suffered a broken right arm after crashing a parked police car at KM37.2 of the North-South Expressway near Kulai, Johor.

Kulai OCPD Asst Comm Tan Seng Lee said the incident was believed to have happened at about 4.07pm on Monday (July 14) when the police car stopped at the emergency lane to inspect a van.

"A motorcycle, ridden by a local man, was attempting to overtake another vehicle on the left lane when he suddenly veered into the emergency lane.

"He then collided with the rear of the police car that was at the emergency lane.

"As a result of the impact, the motorcyclist lost control and was flung onto the road, sustaining a broken right arm," he said in a statement.

ACP Tan said the victim was taken to Hospital Temenggong Seri Maharaja Tun Ibrahim in Kulai for further treatment.

"The driver of the police vehicle was unhurt," he said adding that the case is being investigated under Section 43 of the Road Transport Act 1987 for careless and inconsiderate driving.

He also have urged anyone with information about the incident to contact investigating officer Insp Mohd Ruslan Mohamed at 013-306 3710 or visit the Kulai district police headquarters traffic investigation unit.
