VIDEOS of shoplifting incidents are often shared on social media by victims in hopes that the CCTV footage will help identify the culprits.
One such video has gone viral recently, with captions and comments claiming the incident happened at a food outlet in Cheras Traders Square.
The CCTV footage shows a smartly-dressed woman in a black headscarf taking a mobile phone from the shop counter before quickly hurrying off.

Kajang OCPD Asst Comm Naazron Abdul Yusof confirmed the incident, saying that a police report was filed by the victim at 9.48pm on June 27.
The 20-year-old complainant, who worked at the stall, told the police that her mobile phone had gone missing while working at the counter of the premises.
"The CCTV footage from inside the shop showed a woman taking the phone, which had been placed on the counter," ACP Naazron said.
He urged the suspect to surrender at the nearest police station, as she was easily recognisable from the CCTV footage.
He added that the case is being investigated under Section 379 of the Penal Code for theft.
ACP Naazron also called on members of the public with information on the case to contact the nearest police station, or contact Insp Ammar Mohd Tahir at 018-258 6153.
