A woman was detained after a video allegedly showing her driving her car in the motorcycle lane on the Sultan Abdul Halim Muadzam Shah Bridge on Saturday.

Recently, a video surfaced showing a car driving in the motorcycle lane on the Sultan Abdul Halim Mu'adzam Shah Bridge (JSAHMS).

Police have detained a 70-year-old woman for driving her car in the motorcycle lane on the JSAHMS in Seberang Perai, Penang.

The incident took place on Sunday, June 22, at around 1.30pm, at Kilometre 8.6 of the bridge, moving from Batu Kawan towards Batu Maung.

Seberang Perai Selatan (SPS) OCPD, Supt Jay January Siowou, confirmed that police investigations identified the woman and brought her to the SPS District Police Headquarters for further action. "The police have also opened an investigation paper for driving in a prohibited lane, and further investigation is underway," said Supt Siowou.

A six-second video showing the woman driving a Proton X50 in the motorcycle lane has gone viral on social media. Members of the public with additional information about the incident are encouraged to contact the Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Division of the SPS IPD at 04-585 8222 to assist with the investigation.
