WHEN an argument breaks out, emotions can lead people into uncharted territory.
This is arguably especially true when this war of words is due to a domestic dispute.
It was claimed recently that an argument between a man and his wife led the man to drive in a dangerous manner in Johor Bahru.
Did an argument with his wife really lead a man to drive against traffic, as seen in a viral video?
VERDICT:
TRUE
Johor Baru South OCPD Asst Comm Raub Selamat confirmed this, saying that the investigation began after they received information on Sunday (June 8) night from Bukit Aman about a viral video of a car being driven against the flow of traffic.
He said that the investigation showed that the incident occurred at around 1.41am on Saturday (June 7) when a locally registered car went against traffic.
“Checks on the vehicle registration allowed the police to locate and identify its owner, who we instructed to come to the Johor Baru South police traffic station," he said on Monday (June 9).
ACP Raub added that the owner then arrived at the police station on the same day at around 11.30pm to help with the ongoing investigation.
"Based on recording his statement, the owner, who is a 34-year-old man, admitted to driving the car against the traffic flow at the time,” he said.
“The owner said he was in a misunderstanding with his wife, which caused him to lose focus while behind the wheel, resulting in the car entering the wrong lane," added ACP Raub, who said that the man tested negative for drugs and alcohol.
ACP Raub added that the case is being investigated under Section 42(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for reckless and dangerous driving.
