Due to our country's fortuitous location within the Ring of Fire, Malaysia enjoys some of the benefits of being in a geologically active area without earthquakes threatening to level our cities every few years.
Of course, I'm talking about the numerous hot springs and geysers dotted around the country, perfect for a quick, relaxing dip to soothe our bodies and minds.
Speaking of geysers, was a tall column of water recently seen gushing out tens of metres into the air near Bandar Sungai Buaya, Hulu Selangor, as claimed in a viral video?
VERDICT:
TRUE
According to Majoriti, the tall column of water was sadly not from a hot spring but a burst pipe carrying high-pressure water.
Several videos online have surfaced showing the water gushing out near what appears to be a construction site next to a road.
While the exact cause of the burst pipe is still unknown, Air Selangor confirmed the incident on its website around 1pm on Thursday (May 15) before updating that the burst pipe had been repaired around 6pm.
"Repair works have been completed. Water supply is expected to be fully restored at 1.30am, Friday, May 16.
"The duration of the water supply recovery will be in stages and vary depending on the distance and location of the consumers' premises.
"Air Selangor would like to advise consumers who have and will receive their water supply to let the tap run until the water is clear before using it for daily consumption.
"Any inquiries and complaints can be submitted to the Help Centre via Air Selangor Apps or contact 15300," it said.
The affected areas are Taman Sari Alamanda, Bandar Baru Sungai Buaya, Tol Sungai Buaya, Kampung Sungai Buaya, Anugerah Suria, Taman Bukit Teratai, Perodua, Kampung Mohd Taib, Taman Kesidang, Kampung Koskan and Taman Ehsan Ibu.
