QuickCheck: Was a school kid rescued from being hit by a runaway lorry in Sabah?


An out-of-control lorry hurtles down a hill. With no way to slow down, it picks up speed, heading straight towards traffic next to a school.

In its way, several cars and a man on a motorcycle dropping off a child outside the school.

Moments before disaster, the man spots the runaway lorry and manages to grab the child and get out of the way of certain death in the nick of time.

This scene was shown in a viral video that claimed it happened in Sabah. Is this true?

According to Majoriti, the harrowing incident took place outside Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Tansau, Ketiau, Putatan, Sabah on Friday (Feb 28) morning.

It reported that the lorry had crashed into 11 cars and a motorcycle during the accident. One person was injured, and no deaths were reported.

Police are investigating the cause of the accident, said the report.
