QuickCheck: Is the Sumbangan Keperluan Asas Sarawak (SKAS) open for application?


ON Nov 11, Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg announced during the Sarawak Budget 2025 presentation that the government would introduce the Sumbangan Keperluan Asas Sarawak (SKAS) aid to ease the financial burden on low-income residents.

The aid offers financial support ranging from RM250 to RM800 annually to help recipients purchase essential food items like rice, flour and cooking oil.

A TikTok account has posted that eligible residents may apply for SKAS aid now as applications are now open. Is this true?

VERDICT:

FALSE

According to the Sarawak Public Communications Unit (Ukas), the information posted by the TikTok account was false as so far no official date has been released for SKAS applications.

Ukas advised the public to remain cautious and only rely on official channels for accurate information.
