THINGS are not always what they seem to be – words worth keeping in mind especially when watching videos on social media.
A video went viral recently showing a police car with sirens and lights on tailing another vehicle said to be carrying stolen cables, but some claimed it appeared as if the police were providing escort.
So, is there any truth to this preposterous claim?

Police have denied claims that one if its patrol vehicles escorted a vehicle carrying stolen cables in Kampung Tasik Tambahan, Ampang.
"The claim that the police vehicle was working together with the thieves is untrue," said Bukit Aman Crime Prevention and Community Safety Department director Datuk Noor Hisam Nordin.
"The police vehicle acted on information from the Ampang Jaya police headquarters and the team also switched on its beacon lights in accordance with standard operating procedures while carrying out its duties," he said when contacted by Sinar Harian on Monday (Sept 21).
Noor Hisam said police officers were responding to a public complaint.
He said one cable theft suspect was arrested for further action.
A closed-circuit television recording from a house near the scene earlier went viral on several social media platforms, with some claiming that the patrol car was escorting a vehicle carrying stolen cables.
