Police have denied that Deputy Inspector-General of Police Datuk Seri Ayob Khan Mydin Pitchay has operated a "friendship group" on social media.

Kuala Lumpur police chief Comm Datuk Rusdi Mohd Isa stated that police had detected a WhatsApp message claiming to have been sent from the Deputy IGP.

He clarified that Deputy Inspector-General of Police Datuk Seri Ayob Khan Mydin Pitchay has not operated any such special WhatsApp group.

The dissemination of this misinformation can lead to public confusion and potentially tarnish the reputation of the police force.

Kuala Lumpur police have committed to taking strict action and conducting a thorough investigation into the number's owner who used the police force's top leadership's name and others involved, in accordance with applicable laws.
