QuickCheck: Was a brawl at a Port Dickson shop linked to organised crime?

A video went viral recently of a bloody brawl at a shop at Kampung Sungai Sendayan, Springhill, in Port Dickson.

Speculation is that this involved rival gangs, but was the fight actually related to organised crime?

VERDICT:

FALSE

According to Port Dickson OCPD Supt Aidi Sham Mohamed, the fight, which took place around 12.50am on May 11, was not gang-related.

"Investigation revealed that the fight was because one of them was unhappy with another for misusing a photo on WhatsApp," he said in a statement on May 20.

He added that several of the men involved in the brawl were also under the influence of alcohol at the time.

He said that three of them had suffered injuries to their heads and arms. Two had sought treatment at Hospital Port Dickson and one went to Hospital Seremban.

Five people have since been arrested in connection with the case.
