QuickCheck: Did a scuffle take place at a Pahang temple?

PLACES of worship are generally seen as locations where people can seek refuge from the stresses and chaos of the every-day world and touch base with their spiritual beliefs.

As such, altercations at these places - such as temples - would draw attention given how disruptive they can be.

It was claimed recently that a scuffle took place at a temple in Pahang recently. Is this true?

VERDICT:

TRUE

Raub OCPD Supt Mohd Shahril Abd Rahman confirmed this, saying that four men aged between 23 and 44 years old were arrested on Sunday (April 28) in the area at around 8pm following the scuffle at the temple.

He said police received information about the incident at 2.46pm before a police team went to the scene to control the situation and preliminary investigations found that the cause of the fight involved a group of men consisting of 10 to 15 people.

"There were individuals who wanted to remove their vehicles from the temple area but the route was blocked by a row of other vehicles which sparked a verbal argument leading to a fight.

"Two four-wheel drive vehicles were damaged in the scuffle," said Supt Mohd Shahril.

"The fight also resulted in injuries to three men and they were taken to Raub Hospital for treatment," he added in a statement on Tuesday (April 30).

Mohd Shahril said efforts to track down other suspects were ongoing and the individuals involved in the fight were asked to come forward to assist in the investigation.

The case is being investigated under Section 148 of the Penal Code for rioting in public places using weapons, he added.
