Screen captures of the man who allegedly caused accidents all over Penang.

SEVERAL videos have gone viral of a man intentionally ramming his motorcycle into other people's cars to make false claims.

Allegedly, the culprit is based in Penang. Is this true?

Verdict:

TRUE

The police are hunting for a man who is said to have deliberately caused a road accident and demand money as compensation from the owner of the car involved.

North-East District OCPD Asst Comm Razlam Ab Hamid said police received a report from the public regarding the incident in December.

According to him, police were trying to track down the suspect involved.

"The case is being investigated under Section 420 of the Penal Code for cheating," he said when contacted by Sinar Harian on Sunday (March 10).

Previously, several photos and videos had gone viral on social media showing a motorcyclist intentionally causing an accident by hitting a car before claiming that the car driver was at fault.

The motorcyclist was then said to have asked for damages of between RM20 and RM60 because the incident had broken his side mirror.

Police say the culprit allegedly caused accidents around the city centre, including Jalan Masjid Negeri, Bukit Gambir, Taman Lip Sin, and Taman Tun Sardon.
