QuickCheck: Is EPF offering special withdrawals for the Hari Raya season?

With Hari Raya just about a month away, it is natural that people will begin their preparations for the festive season to come – and such preparations tend to mean that there is a greater need for more cash on hand.

Recently, a post went viral on social media containing a claim that the Employees Provident Fund (EPF) will be allowing a special withdrawal from RM1,000 to RM50,000 for eligible applicants.

Is such a withdrawal in the works?

VERDICT:

FALSE

In a Facebook post on their official account, the EPF denied this by saying that the post and the information in it is false.

“Warning, do not believe such news easily and fall for the traps of scammers. Get valid information from the website and social media accounts of the EPF,” it said.
