THERE have been reports of messages claiming to be from Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM) asking recipients for money on the Telegram and WhatsApp chat apps.

In a post on its official Facebook page, BNM has warned the public not to be taken in by these scammers.

The national bank asserted in its post that neither it nor its officers would ever ask for money from the public.

The post then went on to warn the public to be wary if they receive such messages and to contact the police immediately to make a report.
