QuickCheck: Are fake Cybersecurity Malaysia officers calling people to pull off scams?

SCAMMERS are impersonating Cybersecurity Officers on the phone in a bid to scam unsuspecting victims.

In a statement on its Facebook page, Cybersecurity Malaysia warned the public to be cautious of calls from people impersonating their officers.

The cybersecurity watchdog said that the agency never makes phone calls regarding any form of cyber threat or misconduct.

It advised the public four simple steps to avoid being the victim of cybercrime:

1. Never give personal details including banking information to callers

2. Never click or access any link or attachment sent by the caller

3. Do a review of emails or messages received with CyberSecurity Malaysia before taking any action

4. Report the scam call to [e-mail]
