QuickCheck: Did a man overturn an enforcement vehicle with a backhoe?


A VIDEO has been making its rounds on social media showing an angry man overturning a Road Transport Vehicle (JPJ) vehicle with a backhoe. Did this really happen?

The 51-second video was shot on Thursday (June 30) in Keningau, Sabah.

According to Keningau district police chief DSP Nor Rafidah Kasim, the incident happened after the backhoe operator got upset after receiving a summons from a Keningau JPJ officer.

The man, in his 60s, was stopped for an inspection by JPJ enforcers on suspicion of committing an offence.

"When a summons was being issued, the disgruntled driver drove his backhoe and toppled the JPJ vehicle and damaging it," said DSP Nor Rafidah.

"The JPJ officer managed to avoid injury. Police arrested the man and seized the backhoe," she said in a statement, adding that the case was being investigated under Sections 186, 353 and 427 of the Penal Code.
