QuickCheck: Has a local child been infected with the monkeypox virus?


A video has gone viral on social media, with the claim that a child is being treated at a local hospital for monkeypox. Is this claim true?

In a Twitter post on Tuesday (May 24) night, the Health Ministry said it has not received any notification regarding a monkeypox infection or of a child said to be infected with the virus here, as claimed on social media.

It stated that it had not received any notification regarding the monkeypox infection as of 5pm on Tuesday.

"If the viral video is true, the guardian is advised to take the child to a nearby government health facility immediately for examination and treatment," said the ministry.

The public is also advised not to spread any news that is unverified.
