Two killed, two injured in landslide in central Myanmar

YANGON: Two men have been killed with two others injured in a landslide at a stone cave in Myanmar's central Mandalay region, according to a release of the Home Affairs Ministry on Monday (March 23).

The landslide occurred in Thabeikkyin township on Sunday.

A wall of 60.9m high soil collapsed at a working site near Latpanpyant village, killing and injuring workers who were digging gold pieces in early hours of Sunday.

The injured were brought to the hospital for treatment and the investigation into the incident is underway, the release said.

The incident also comes after the Myanmar Government had announced that there is still no Covid-19 (coronavirus) outbreak cases reported in Myanmar. - Xinhua/Asian News Network
