Hanoi: The city's Department of Transport has released plans to regulate traffic in several streets to facilitate the finishing touches of the Formula One (F1) racetrack as the country gears up for a spectacular F1 race from to be held heree from April 3-5.

The race is the third leg of the 2020 F1 racing calendar.

The transport department has asked the municipal People’s Committee to assign city police to co-ordinate with relevant agencies to ensure traffic order and security.

The circuit and other related structures will sit on an area of 88ha, including areas around My Dinh National Stadium and some public transport routes.

The circuit is 5.57km in length, with 22 classic curves inspired by some of the world’s best-known circuits in Germany, Monaco and Japan.

Images of the Hanoi Circuit pit building have been released ahead of the first-ever Vietnam Grand Prix as reported formula1.com.

In a tantalising sneak-peak of the newest circuit in F1, the photographs show the 300m pit building and part of the circuit itself, two-thirds of which is city roads – the other third having been built especially for the Grand Prix.

The Hanoi pit lane is deliberately “very, very short,” according to circuit designer Hermann Tilke, in order to encourage more than one stop during the race. The 5.6km circuit features 23 corners and has nine grandstands named after regions across Vietnam.

The design of the three-storey pit building has been heavily influenced by the city’s historic buildings, to reflect Vietnam’s “strong cultural legacy”.

“This is an important moment in the development of the Hanoi Circuit and another vital milestone in the lead up to Vietnam’s first ever Formula 1 race weekend,” said Vietnam Grand Prix Corporation CEO Le Ngoc Chi told formula1.com.

“Like the Imperial Citadel of Thang Long and the Pavilion of the Constellation of Literature which have inspired the Pit Building’s design, we hope this structure will become another iconic Hanoi landmark. - Vietnam News/Asian News Network
