Indonesia drafting cross border e-commerce rules

Jakarta: To prevent an excess of imported goods from inundating the domestic market, the government is preparing regulation on cross border trade through e-commerce platforms.

Coordinating Economic Minis­ter Darin Nation said the government was reviewing import trends on e-commerce platforms.

“The number is relatively small but catches up fast,” Darin said on Wednesday as quoted by business news portal kontan.co.id.

The data showed that there had been fewer goods imported through e-commerce platforms than those brought into the country through conventional means, he said, adding that the government had also observed a rising trend in goods imported through online marketplaces.
