Protesters smash window of Grab office in Jakarta


JAKARTA (Philippine Daily Inquirer/Asia News Network) A protest led by motorcycle taxi drivers turned violent outside the offices of ride-hailing app Grab in Jakarta, Indonesia on Monday, Oct. 29.

This video, uploaded by Abi Nubli, shows a window being smashed as riot police clashed with protesters at the Singapore-based company’s corporate office in South Jakarta.

Police used tear gas to disperse the crowd, as reported by local news site Kompas.com on the same day.

The drivers were protesting over allegations that Grab exploits its employees and holds a monopoly on the online transportation business in the country, as per report. – Philippine Daily Inquirer/Asia News Network
