People going through the Enhanced Immigration Automated Clearance System at Woodlands Checkpoint. With these self-clearance immigration gates, an eligible traveller needs just his passport, whether biometric or machine-readable, to opt for self-clearance. It is a two-step system that reads passports and scans thumbprints.
ALL Singaporeans passing through Woodlands Checkpoint by bus or on foot are now required to scan their thumbprints in a move to enhance security.
Until recently, only those opting for automated clearance were required to scan thumbprints using biometric technology.
