THE very thought that a murder could have taken place in their home is giving Guen Garlejo Aguilar’s distraught employers sleepless nights.
The IT professionals in their 30s, who did not want to be named, had no idea anything was wrong until police knocked on their door at 8.30pm on Friday asking about their maid.
Police took Aguilar away with them about an hour later, along with an 18cm cleaver wrapped in a red plastic bag they found in the Serangoon home.
The couple had no idea who owned the two bags that contained the body parts found near Orchard MRT station and at MacRitchie Reservoir, or where they had come from.
Both husband and wife have not had much sleep since police took Aguilar away.
“Not even an hour’s sleep on Friday. When you are not easy in your mind, you just can’t sleep,” the husband said.
The Indian nationals who are now permanent residents have been living in the rented condominium unit since March.
They hired Aguilar from an agency when they moved in.
The couple said they are usually very busy during the week, leaving home around 8am, and returning at 6pm. They also travel frequently for work.
Haunted by what could have happened at their home, they are still discussing whether they want to stay in the apartment or move out.
They will definitely not be getting a replacement maid, though.
“I don’t think I will be employing another live-in maid – not in the near future,” said the wife. –The Straits Times/ANN
