TAIPEI: Kao Ching-hui was crowned Miss Taiwan yesterday, two days after she tearfully denied allegations she had worked at a hostess bar, which the contest bans because of their links to prostitution.
Kao, the first runner-up at the Miss Taiwan beauty pageant in July, replaced winner Liu An-nan, who went into hiding reportedly because loan sharks had chased her over a large debt.
