S'gor MACC nabs local authority officer for allegedly misappropriating RM60,000

PETALING JAYA: A local authority officer has been arrested by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) for allegedly misappropriating over RM60,000 from building plan fees.

The female officer, aged in her forties, was arrested earlier Thursday (Nov 5) after having her statement recorded at the Selangor MACC headquarters.

"Preliminary investigations found that the suspect allegedly committed the offence between 2022 and 2023 by issuing what are believed to be fake receipts, while the collected payments were not deposited into the revenue account of the local authority where she worked,” source said.

Selangor MACC director Mohd Azwan Ramli confirmed the arrest.

He added that the case is being investigated under Section 18 of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission Act 2009.
