GEORGE TOWN: Some 800 goodie bags filled with festive treats were given to patients and staff members at Penang Hospital.

The annual initiative was organised by the Malaysia Hindudharma Mamandram (MHDM) Penang branch, with each bag containing murukku, traditional Indian sweets and fruits.

MHDM Penang chairman N. Thanabalan said the programme aimed to share the festive spirit with patients receiving treatment and healthcare workers spending the festival being on duty.

“We have brought festive cheer to the hospital for the fifth consecutive year,” he said after handing over the goodie bags to the hospital’s deputy director (management) M. Maheswari at the Ambulatory Care Centre building.
