Consent for Negri assembly sitting date still being sought, says MB

SEREMBAN: Negri Sembilan Menteri Besar Datuk Ismail Lasim has yet to obtain the consent of the Yang di-Pertuan Besar of Negri Sembilan on the date of the next state assembly sitting.

According to Sinar Harian, the sitting was earlier scheduled for Nov 26, followed by the tabling of the state budget on Nov 27.

"We are working on it (to obtain the consent of the Yang di-Pertuan Besar of Negri Sembilan).

"But as I said before, that's it... Nov 27 or thereabouts. Let's see how it goes," he told reporters briefly after officiating Perpatih Fest here on Friday (Oct 30).

He was responding to a question on whether Tuanku Muhriz had consented to the date of the next assembly sitting.

Sinar Harian earlier reported that Negri Sembilan DAP chairman J. Arul Kumar said all opposition state assemblymen had yet to receive any official notice on the sitting scheduled for November.

The Nilai assemblyman said that if the date had received the consent of the Yang di-Pertuan Besar, every assemblyman should have been informed.

Commenting on former Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun's statement that the state assembly could dissolve automatically in February 2027 if no sitting was held by then, Ismail said he was unsure about the matter.

He said the matter should be referred to the relevant legal provisions for clarity.
