Motorcyclist killed after being run over by trailer lorry

SHAH ALAM: A motorcyclist died after being run over by a trailer lorry following a collision with a four-wheel-drive (4WD) vehicle in the emergency lane along Jalan Pintasan Pelabuhan Barat, Klang, at 9am on Wednesday (Oct 28).

South Klang OCPD Asst Comm Lim Jit Huey said the 37-year-old local man was pronounced dead at the scene from severe injuries.

His body was taken to Hospital Tengku Ampuan Rahimah in Klang for a post-mortem.

"Preliminary investigations found that the victim is believed to have collided with the right side of the 4WD, which was travelling in the emergency lane.

"The impact caused him to fall onto the right lane, where he was run over by a trailer lorry travelling in the adjacent lane.

"The victim was riding alone from Klang towards the West Port. The drivers of the 4WD and the trailer lorry were unhurt," he said in a statement.

Lim urged anyone with information on the incident to contact investigating officer Insp Mohamad Mustakin Najri at 012-5826983 or go to the nearest police station.

He also advised road users against using the emergency lane as a shortcut and urged them to remain vigilant, concentrate on driving and obey traffic rules to prevent similar incidents.

The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987. – Bernama
