KUALA LUMPUR: Police have busted three drug syndicates following nine raids in the Klang Valley, with drugs worth about RM2.1mil seized.
Kuala Lumpur police chief Comm Datuk Fadil Marsus said the operations were carried out from Oct 19 to 22 in Cheras, Brickfields, Dang Wangi and Ampang.
“We arrested 23 suspects, comprising 16 local men, a local woman, three foreign men and three foreign women, aged between 21 and 40,” he said at a press conference at the contingent headquarters here.
Among the drugs seized were 966 packets and 401 bottles of suspected MDMA.
“Other drugs seized included ketamine, Erimin 5 pills and ecstasy,” he added.
Investigations found that six local suspects had previous criminal or drug-related records.
Meanwhile, five foreign suspects had entered the country using social visit passes, while another did not possess valid travel documents.
The syndicates are believed to have used condominiums as storage and distribution points, selecting premises with multiple security levels.
“The drugs were allegedly distributed to end users through various channels, including online messaging platforms, social media and physical transactions,” Comm Fadil said.
Investigations are ongoing to establish links between the three syndicates.
Police also believe that other members remain at large.
“We will take further action against those involved in drug trafficking, from suppliers and distributors to those storing the substances,” he added.
