Fisherman found drowned after falling from boat in Kudat

KUDAT: A Filipino man reported missing after falling into the sea from a fishing boat at the Ko-Nelayan Jetty here on Sunday (Oct 25) night has been found drowned.

The victim, believed to be in his 20s, was discovered at 10.20am on Monday (Oct 26) by fishermen searching near the location where he fell overboard.

Kudat fire station chief Darikson Galanang said a report was received from the Kudat police station at 10.37pm on Sunday.

A team was immediately sent to the scene and found that the victim reportedly fell into the sea from a berthed vessel at the jetty.

According to Darikson, the victim’s colleagues witnessed the incident and tried to locate him by diving around the jetty.

However, their efforts were unsuccessful, prompting firemen and police personnel to conduct a surface search around the incident site.

The operation was suspended at 11.10pm on Sunday due to poor visibility and resumed at 9.20am on Monday.
