A 51-YEAR-OLD tuition teacher in Bayan Lepas, Penang, has taken the SPM Bahasa Melayu paper eight times to help his students navigate evolving examination formats, China Press reported.
Frustrated by frequent syllabus shifts, Chin Choong Yin decided to sit for the paper himself to gain firsthand insight into current testing standards.
Chin, who admitted to barely passing Bahasa Melayu during his own school days, registered for the paper in 2017 to 2020, 2022, 2024, 2025 and this year.
He established a tuition centre in 2001 specialising in Bahasa Melayu and enforces an immersion approach by teaching exclusively in Malay to accelerate student learning.
Driven by a passion for the national language, Chin has even authored two books on Balik Pulau’s history in Malay.
In his spare time, Chin offers pro bono secretarial support, drafting official Bahasa Malaysia correspondence for local community associations and temples.
> A woman in China was caught on camera relieving herself in a supermarket aisle in front of her two young children, the daily also reported.
CCTV footage showed the woman entering the premises with a boy and a girl before browsing the aisles.
Moments later, she was seen clutching her abdomen in apparent physical distress.
Instead of seeking a restroom, she relieved herself directly in the aisle.
The children were seen stepping away as a pool of liquid formed beneath her, with the woman making no attempt to shield her actions from them.
She then nonchalantly walked out of the store. The shop owner discovered the act while reviewing security recordings, which have since gone viral online.
