Scalpers cash in on Eason Chan concert fever

EVEN before they have gone on sale, tickets to Hong Kong superstar Eason Chan’s upcoming concerts are selling for more than 10 times their value at scalper websites, reported Sin Chew Daily.

The tickets, which will be allocated by ballot once ticketing opens, are being sold for as much as HK$13,563 (RM7,056) which is many times above face value.

What is making it worse is that the 26 concerts will be held at Lyric Theatre of the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts, which only has 1,181 seats.

This makes tickets even more difficult to obtain.

Fans flooded social media with angry comments after listings from scalper websites were shared online.

“Each show has only a little over 1,000 seats, so winning a ticket is already difficult.

“With scalpers involved, real fans will barely be able to buy tickets!” one netizen wrote.

It was reported that the 26 shows will be akin to a recording session of his earlier works rather than Chan’s usual concert performances.

Titled Recording Sessions with Mr Eason Chan, the sessions will revisit albums including U87, H3M and Eason Chan’s Happy Days.

> Despite being nearly 100 years old, a man in Hangzhou, China, is so fit that he can still perform 50 push-ups in one go, reported Sin Chew Daily.

Li Hongfu, 94, exercises everyday and practises kungfu known as kaoshangong.

Li enlisted in the army in 1950 and served 28 years before transferring to civilian work.

He developed a habit of exercising every day since his days in the military.

When a reporter from a local media outlet visited, Li demonstrated kaoshangong by slamming his back against a doorframe. He claimed that practising it helped him walk better.

After the demonstration, he immediately got on the floor and performed 50 consecutive pushups.

Li said he was proud of his physical condition.

He added that most of his former colleagues have died, making him value health even more.

“I have enough money to spend.

“You bring none into this world and take none with you when you die. It is all just material possessions,” he said.
