Night lane closures on Tun Dr Lim Chong Eu Expressway for Mutiara Line LRT works until Oct 31

GEORGE TOWN: Several sections of the Tun Dr Lim Chong Eu Expressway will be closed intermittently at night starting Friday (Oct 16) to facilitate road marking works for the Mutiara Line Light Rail Transit (LRT) project.

In a statement on Thursday (Oct 15), Malaysia Rapid Transit Corporation Sdn Bhd (MRT Corp) said the closures would be in effect daily from 10pm to 5am until Oct 31.

The closures will affect the leftmost lane and connecting ramps at several locations along the expressway, including the exit from Gat Lebuh Macallum near PYB Tour Coach Sdn Bhd towards Komtar, and the leftmost lane leading to the entrance of Gat Lebuh Macallum near the Mutiara Line LRT construction site towards Bayan Lepas.

Other affected sections include the exit from the Gat Lebuh Cecil warehouse area to the entrance of Gat Lebuh Macallum near Proton CS Prima towards Komtar, as well as the exit from Gat Lebuh Macallum near Mama George Town Tomyam onto the expressway towards Bayan Lepas.

The leftmost lane of the expressway leading to the Gat Lebuh Cecil junction near SMT System Metal Technology Sdn Bhd towards Komtar will also be closed, along with the entry and exit lanes at the Gat Lebuh Cecil traffic-light junction towards Bayan Lepas.

MRT Corp said other lanes would remain open to ensure traffic flow, and advised motorists to exercise caution when passing through the affected areas. — Bernama
