FIVE-YEAR-OLD Asiah Ahmad Syahir had been discharged from hospital for only a week before she lost her life in a six-vehicle accident along Jalan Kuching, Kuala Lumpur.
Her uncle, Muhammad Amin Mohamad Nor Izam, 25, said his last meeting with Asiah was a week ago, shortly after she was allowed to leave the hospital following a fall in the bathroom, Utusan Malaysia reported.
“She was very close to the whole family and we would often keep in touch through video calls.
“The last time I saw and hugged her was a week ago, after she was discharged from hospital. That was the last time I got to cuddle and play with her,” he said.
The girl, who was seated in the rear passenger seat of her family’s car, was pronounced dead from severe head injuries while being taken to Hospital Kuala Lumpur.
Muhammad Amin said that at the time of the accident, his elder brother Ahmad Syahir Mohamad Nor, 30, was travelling home to Kampung Sungai Penchala, Kuala Lumpur, with his wife and two children.
He said his brother had been in a hurry to return home to carry out his duties at the local mosque, where he worked as a bilal (mosque prayer caller).
“Before the incident, my brother had taken his family out for a drive and a meal in Keramat,” he said.
He said the family was still traumatised and emotionally distressed over the tragedy.
