PUTRAJAYA: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim on Monday (Oct 12) attended the Majlis Ilmu Madani event featuring renowned Turkish scholar Sheikh Prof Dr Muhammad Fadhil al-Jilani al-Hasani.

Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Religious Affairs) Dr Zulkifli Hasan and over 100 guests also attended the event at the Seri Perdana Complex.

Speaking at the event, Anwar expressed his appreciation to Sheikh Muhammad Fadhil for delivering the lecture and recalled the scholar's guidance and encouragement during his difficult times.

"He provided me with strong guidance, nurturing and encouragement during difficult times in the past.

"That is why when he arrived yesterday (Oct 11), I met him and he spoke about Imam al-Ghazali's exegesis of Surah Yusuf. So, I thought we should make the most of this brief opportunity (at this event)," he said.

The one-hour lecture explored Imam al-Ghazali's exegesis of Surah Yusuf, focusing on the understanding of its contents and lessons.

The organising of Majlis Ilmu Madani events at the Prime Minister's official residence is part of efforts to foster a knowledge-loving society that understands the importance of good manners and morals.

Anwar initiated the event after taking office as Prime Minister on Nov 24, 2022, and it is now held nationwide. — Bernama
