PUTRAJAYA: Less than an hour before tabling Budget 2027 in the Dewan Rakyat, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim was still fielding suggestions from worshippers after Friday prayers at Masjid Putra on Oct 9.
Anwar said several people he met pitched various ideas, touching on the National Higher Education Fund Corporation (PTPTN) and housing.
"On the way out (after Friday prayers), three or four people suggested this and that - some mentioned PTPTN.
"One person brought up housing. What matters is that we keep going," he told reporters, adding that he has taken note of the suggestions.
Dressed in a light blue baju Melayu and songkok, Anwar arrived at the mosque at 1.04pm and was received by chief imam Dr Muhamad Zakuwa Rodzali, mosque management and congregants.
Hazman Hashim led Friday prayers and delivered a sermon titled "Al-Quran Menyatukan Hati, Kasih Merentas Generasi" (The Quran Unites Hearts, Love Across Generations).
He prayed for guidance and wisdom for the Prime Minister and the nation's leadership as they manage the country's treasury ahead of Budget 2027.
"Ahead of the tabling of Budget 2027, the khatib expresses hope and prayers for the Prime Minister and the nation's leadership. Managing the nation's treasury is a heavy trust, in keeping with fiqh principles.
"May it align with Maqasid Syariah, and may our homeland become 'baldatun tayyibatun wa rabbun ghafur' (a good and prosperous nation that earns God's forgiveness)," he said.
Anwar, who is also Finance Minister, is set to table Budget 2027 in the Dewan Rakyat at 3.30pm on Friday.
The budget, the fifth under his government, focuses on translating economic growth into the people's well-being and a better standard of living. – Bernama
