PETALING JAYA: A total of 19 areas nationwide recorded unhealthy Air Pollutant Index (API) readings as of 10am on Monday (Sept 21).
According to the Air Pollutant Index Management System (APIMS) portal, Kapit in Sarawak recorded the highest readings at 168, followed by IPD Serian with 167. Three other areas in the state also recorded unhealthy API readings: Sri Aman (161), Bintulu (159) and Kuching (158).
Other areas in Sarawak with unhealthy air quality were Miri (157), Sibu (157), Samarahan (156, Samalaju (155), Miri ILP (128) and Limbang (104).
Putrajaya recorded 157, followed by Ceras (Kuala Lumpur) and Nilai (Negri Sembilan) with 156. At the same time, Johan Setia in Selangor recorded an API of 153, followed by Politeknik Kota Kinabalu, Sabah (152); Bukit Rambai, Melaka (150); and Shah Alam, Selangor (144)
Meanwhile, 42 areas recorded moderate readings, while seven areas recorded good readings.
An API reading of 0 to 50 indicates good air quality, 51 to 100 (moderate), 101 to 200 (unhealthy), 201 to 300 (very unhealthy) and 301 and above (hazardous).
