PETALING JAYA: DAP's Central Executive Committee (CEC) is expected to discuss their position in the cabinet during a meeting on Saturday (Sept 19), including a possible resignation of its ministers, according to sources.
Party sources say any decision made, whether for the ministers to continue or resign, will be a collective one by the CEC.
“If at all a resignation happens, it will likely involve more than one minister, but there are many possibilities. We will only know after the meeting,” said one source.
This is said to be related to the royal conditional pardon and house arrest granted to former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak.
The party’s secretary-general Anthony Loke said on Friday(Sept 18) that the meeting will decide the party’s stance and next course of action.
He added that DAP respected the pardon power of the Yang di-Pertuan Agong as provided under the Federal Constitution and defended the rule of law and the fight against corruption.
Loke added that DAP has consistently demanded justice and accountability in the 1MDB scandal from the very beginning.
