KOTA KINABALU: A special education teacher was killed in a seven-vehicle pileup along a flyover heading to Luyang near here.
Arizal Wahid, 44, was pinned to his seat following the impact of the accident and was pronounced dead at the scene not long after.
He was believed to be heading to work at SK Sembulan when the collision took place early in the morning.
Sabah Fire and Rescue Department operations commander Mohd Hanafiah Tunjol said they received a call at around 6.33am, and firemen arrived at the scene around 6.41am.
“Our men found one victim pinned in his seat, and he was extricated using special rescue equipment,” he said in a statement.
However, medical officials on site pronounced the victim dead.
Arizal’s body was handed over to police for further action while other rescue personnel wrapped up their operations at the scene at 7.55am.
