Haze: 37 areas with unhealthy API readings as of 8am


PETALING JAYA: A total of 37 areas around the country recorded unhealthy air quality at 8am on Tuesday (Sept 15).

According to the Air Pollutant Index Management System (APIMS) portal, three areas in Sarawak recorded unhealthy API readings, namely Serian (188),Samarahan (163) and Kuching (154).

In Johor, the air pollutant index for Pasir Gudang was 172, Larkin (169), Tangkak (166), Kota Tinggi (165), Pengerang (162), Batu Pahat (160) and Kluang (151).

Other places were Johan Setia (183), Shah Alam (167), Petaling Jaya (160) and Banting (157) in Selangor; Nilai (167) and Seremban (164) in Negri Sembilan; Alor Gajah (157) and Bukit Rambai (155) in Melaka; Balok Baru (161) and Indera Mahkota (160) in Pahang; Putrajaya (165) and Tanjung Malim, Perak (157).

Thirty areas had moderate API readings and there was no record of any good API reading.

An API reading of 0 to 50 indicates good air quality; 51 to 100, moderate; 101 to 200, unhealthy; 201 to 300, very unhealthy and 300 and above, hazardous.
