PETALING JAYA: A total of six locations are recording unhealthy air quality levels as of 10am on Sunday (Sept 13), five of them in Sarawak alone.
Serian, Kuching, Samarahan, Sri Aman and Sibu.
According to the Air Pollutant Index Management System (Apims) Serian in Sarawak had a Air Pollutant Index (API) reading of 184, the highest in the country, followed by Sri Aman (172), Samarahan (156), Kuching (156) and Sibu (104).
Johan Setia in Selangor is the only location in Peninsular Malaysia that recorded an unhealthy air quality reading of 137.
Meanwhile, 54 locations recorded moderate air quality levels, while eight recorded good levels.
The eight locations with good air quality readings are in Alor Setar and Langkawi in Kedah, Balik Pulau and Minden in Penang, Kangar in Perlis, Tanah Merah and Kota Baru in Kelantan and Besut in Terengganu.
None of the monitoring stations recorded hazardous or very unhealthy air quality levels.
API readings of between zero and 50 indicate good air quality, 51 to 100 moderate, 101 to 200 unhealthy, 201 to 300 very unhealthy, while readings above 300 are categorised as hazardous.
