PETALING JAYA: Samarahan in Sarawak recorded a very unhealthy reading of 230, the highest Air Pollutant Index (API) in the country, as of 9am on Monday (Sept 7), according to the Air Pollutant Index Management System (APIMS).
Langkawi in Kedah and Kangar in Perlis recorded good air quality with API readings of 45 and 40 respectively.
Meanwhile, 23 locations recorded moderate level while 41 locations recorded unhealthy level, where 11 locations are in Sarawak.
None of the monitoring stations recorded hazardous level.
API readings of between zero and 50 indicate good air quality, 51 to 100 moderate, 101 to 200 unhealthy, 201 to 300 very unhealthy, while readings above 300 are categorised as hazardous.
API data is released hourly based on readings from 68 air quality monitoring stations nationwide.
