KOTA KINABALU: Former Sabah chief minister Datuk Seri Salleh Said Keruak is recovering after fainting while performing prayers and injuring his head in a fall on Sunday (Sept 6).
Salleh, who is the Sabah government’s Inspector-General for Project Monitoring, said in a statement on Monday that he had been suffering from diarrhoea for three days before the incident.
“I had diarrhoea for three days. While praying yesterday, I suddenly felt dizzy, fainted and fell. My head hit the table in front of me and I sustained a wound that required stitches,” the Sabah Umno treasurer said.
Salleh said treatment for the injury had been completed and his condition was stable.
However, he said doctors had advised him to get sufficient rest and remain under observation for several days.
Salleh, 69, was Sabah’s ninth chief minister and has also served as a federal minister.
