Car crashes through condo wall, damages vehicles

AMPANG: A car crashed through a concrete parking wall and plunged to the level below at Merdeka Villa here, damaging five other vehicles.

Ampang Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Khairul Anuar Khalid said police were alerted to the incident at about 7.55pm on Tuesday (Sept 1).

“Initial investigations found that the accident occurred at about 3pm when the driver was leaving the parking area.

“The driver lost control after accidentally pressing the accelerator pedal, causing the car to crash into the concrete wall in front before plunging to the lower level,” he said in a statement on Wednesday.

ACP Khairul Anuar said the impact caused the concrete wall to collapse onto five vehicles parked on the lower level.

No injuries or deaths were reported.

“All parties involved have lodged police reports regarding the accident.

“Investigations found that the accident was caused by the driver's negligence, which resulted in the vehicle losing control,” he said.

The case is being investigated under Rule 10 of the Road Traffic Rules 1980 (LN 166/59).

The offence carries a fine of between RM300 and RM2,000 upon conviction.
