PETALING JAYA: Besides a love scam, police are also investigating the possibility of an illegal investment scheme linked to the deaths of a family of four at a condominium in Desa Park City, Kepong.
However, Kuala Lumpur police chief Comm Datuk Fadil Marsus said the matter was still under investigation.
“The family members were aware of the love scam issue and that the victims had been caught up in an illegal investment scheme,” he said in a statement.
Meanwhile, post-mortems on three of the four victims have been completed, with all three found to have suffered sharp-force injuries.
Comm Fadil said the first post-mortem, involving the couple’s nine-year-old daughter, found that she had died from a stab wound to the neck.
The second post-mortem, conducted on the 47-year-old wife, found that she had died from sharp-force injuries to the neck and chest.
The third post-mortem, on the couple’s seven-year-old son, found that he had also suffered a fatal stab wound to the neck.
“The four bodies have yet to be claimed and will only be released after the post-mortem on the father is completed.”
At 3.32pm on Thursday, police, with the help of Fire and Rescue personnel, were called to gain entry into the family’s condominium unit, where they found the wife and children dead in separate rooms.
The body of the 48-year-old father was found below the condominium after he had fallen from the building.
A knife and a pair of gloves, believed to have been used in the killings, were found inside a drawer in the master bedroom.
Recovered from the scene was a note written by the father indicating that his wife had been duped in a love scam, resulting in losses and debts of about RM260,000.
The note expressed his regret towards his wife, whom he alleged was still attempting to contact the individual believed to be the scammer.
